You often ask us

Is dental hygiene treatment painful?

Most clients describe dental hygiene as moderately sensitive, but not painful. Sensitivity may be higher in people with gingivitis, exposed necks, or more tartar, especially at the first visit after a long time. If you have more sensitive teeth, fear of pain or negative experiences from the past, please let us know in advance. If necessary, we can use local anesthesia or choose a gentler procedure. With regular visits, sensitivity is usually significantly reduced and further treatments are much more pleasant for most clients.

What to take with you for dental hygiene?

How long does one dental hygiene treatment last?

One dental hygiene treatment with our hygienist takes approximately 50 to 60 minutes, depending on the current state of the dentition and the amount of tartar or pigmentation. During the visit, tartar removal with ultrasound or hand tools, removal of surface pigmentation (e.g. from coffee, tea or smoking), cleaning of interdental spaces and polishing of teeth takes place. It also includes individual infrastructure of proper home care to ensure that the dental hygiene effect lasts as long as possible. In more complex cases or at the first visit, treatment may be longer.

How often should I undergo dental hygiene?

Dental hygiene is recommended to be performed regularly every 6 months in order to keep the teeth and gums healthy for a long time and prevent the development of tooth decay, gingivitis or periodontitis. For some clients (such as smokers, people with periodontal disease, wearers of braces, implants or with more tartar formation), a more frequent visit may be appropriate, for example every 3 to 4 months. Regular dental hygiene helps not only to maintain a beautiful smile, but also prevents painful and more costly interventions in the future. In addition, the hygienist will advise you how to properly care for your teeth at home and what gadgets are most suitable for you.
